The Goal of Novel Engineering’s school offering technical training is to provide high quality training for electricians, electrical technicians, and electrical engineers through distance and online learning. Novel Engineering endeavors to deliver high-value training programs suitable for the licensing of electricians, and continuing education for electricians, contractors, and engineers that is academically sound, readily available, and reasonably priced. We will be happy to customize a program to fit the student's particular needs.
Accredidation
Novel Engineering – Technical Training is a correspondence school licensed by the Maine Department of Education. All of our electricians’ training programs and individual courses are approved by the Electricians’ Examining Board in Maine for initial licensure and continuing education.

ABOUT
Patrick S. Ouillette, P.E.
Mr. Ouillette is a graduate of Thomas A. Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey and has been licensed as a Professional Engineer in Maine since 1995, having qualified and tested in the electrical engineering discipline. He is the owner of Novel Engineering, a firm engaged in electrical engineering and technical training since 1992.
Mr. Ouillette has worked for the State of Maine in the position of State Electrical Inspector for over 10 years, including several years in the capacity of Senior Electrical Inspector. He has held a Master Electrician’s license in Maine since 1973, and has a somewhat unique background, possessing experience in the design, installation, and inspection of a wide variety of electrical systems.
Mr. Ouillette is a certified teacher by the Maine Department of Education in the areas of electricity and electronics. He is a former adjunct faculty member of two Maine Community Colleges, where he taught many semesters of National Electrical Code® (NEC®). He has conducted NEC seminars for Cianbro Corporation and the University of Maine. Mr. Ouillette has also presented seminars for General Dynamics (Bath Iron Works), various enforcement agencies, trade associations, and electricians’ groups in the NEC and other electrical topics since 1988. He is a published author having written Significant Changes of the 2008 National Electrical Code® and Significant Changes of the 2011 National Electrical Code®, published by American Technical Publishers, Inc.
